Lamp and orchid in front of a window looking out to the treetops

From my home office to yours

This is the view from my treetop office in our home by the ocean. The lamp is vintage—from the 70s of course. The curtains were curated with the DreamLayne colors in mind, and the orchid is a happy shade of lemon. This is where I work to create the business of my dreams.

I started DreamLayne with a vision of a more creative world. I wanted to support creatives and local business with the marketing essentials—using my experience on both the brand and agency side of marketing. DreamLayne is a resource and community for creatives building a business based on their fresh perspective.

Business is essential to life, so why not do it more creatively? Why not celebrate our collective individuality so we can hear the perspectives that change the world? You deserve to have a marketing plan that supports your creative brand—just like a corporate brand does. The difference is the magic in your message, the details in your service, and your genuine desire to help others. My goal is to increase the visibility of your message and help make the world more creative.

The real dream job

Fresh out of college with a Bachelor of Science in Merchandising, I started my first corporate marketing role doing site optimization for Zales. To my surprise, my favorite part of the job was not creative meetings or the diamond sample room—it was the juicy data. I LOVED reviewing analytics for the website and finding patterns in visitor behavior. I was fascinated by the onsite search trends and had fun coming up with creative ways to increase traffic to site.

From there I decided to experience different sides of the industry. I did retail buying for brands like The Container Store, then eventually landed at a global marketing agency optimizing data feeds for brands like Tory Burch, Michael Kors, and URBN. Finally, I transitioned to Paid Search supporting global grocery brands with their retail media.

I worked my way up to a salary I was proud of and was making million dollar decisions. The work itself just felt undeniably unaligned with who I am. My dream was creative collaboration, writing to create connections, and trying to make the world a little more loving. I decided to channel my decade of marketing into helping creatives and local business grow their brand through creative marketing. If I can do that through my work—I am truly living the career dream.
